Released on September 26, 2022, ISOM #1 marked the launch of Eric July’s highly anticipated independent comic book universe, the Rippaverse. As the first issue in the overall series, ISOM #1 introduces readers to a fresh superhero world while laying the foundation for future stories in the series. In my review, I take a closer look at the story, character development, artwork, and the comic’s overall impact on the independent comic scene.
In the review, I also explore how ISOM #1 sets the stage for larger storylines, including the brief appearances of characters like Alpha Core and Yaira, who are sure to play more prominent roles in upcoming issues. While the comic had some areas for improvement, it undoubtedly succeeded in taking a strong first step into the industry.
